Outcome measures demonstrate the impact of your organization’s programs and services, proving to your stakeholders and the public-at-large that you’re “moving the needle,” and establishing your nonprofit as a results-oriented enterprise. Accurate performance measures are also vital to your fundraising program: Funders look for strong measures to demonstrate the benefits you provide.
This highly interactive two-part workshop will have you writing strong outcomes and setting targets that you can measure and defend. You’ll learn to think in terms of the difference you make, practice your skills and gain immediate feedback, and find out how to craft a dashboard that can easily communicate your organization’s impact to your board, management team, staff, and the public.
What you’ll learn:
- How to determine, write, and collect key performance indicators
- How to build a dashboard and use results measures in your messaging
- How to set performance targets and revise them when needed
This session will focus on the definitions, methods, and best practices involved in writing outcome measures, including the different outcome “levels” and tips for defining outcomes that are both measurable and meaningful. You’ll work in teams to write outcomes using two different methods.
Focusing on data management and dashboard development, you’ll learn how to set up your data-collection system and build three different types of dashboards. Examples and templates will be provided; participants will share their own sample outcomes for the group to discuss and help improve.
Any staff responsible for managing programs, up through executive leadership.
