Gwinnett Series | Culture and Change Management Strategies

Organizational culture is fundamental: The product of an organization’s shared values, beliefs, and behaviors, it shapes the way employees behave, treat clients, and interact with each other. Leaders are often responsible for shaping the culture, and frequently called upon to change it, in order to improve morale, increase accountability, or achieve organizational goals. But by its nature, culture is very difficult to change: The old saying, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast,” continues to hold true.

The culture of resilient organizations is built to be responsive. Their norm is flexibility, giving them the ability to refocus their strategy and stay true to the mission in the face of change, whether it’s internal or external: in funding, in leadership, in the community, or anywhere else.

This workshop will cover both the definition of culture and the strategies you can use to change or improve it. Using real-world case studies and established theory, we will explore how culture impacts the work both positively and negatively, what it takes to change an organization, how to build a strategy for change, and the role management plays in this process.
