Columbus: Writing the Annual Development Plan: Create a Road Map for Success

Writing the annual development plan, the annual stewardship plan and a social media plan are all needed to be successful in fundraising. The plans provides a roadmap for your action during the year, keeps you and your board accountable to a workplan and makes sure you have planned out 12 months of activity in fundraising. It provides an accountability tool for all so that you stay on track and achieve your goals in fundraising.

This course will cover four major plans with templates provided:

Annual revenue projections – each development plan starts with your projections of what you need to raise by each type of funder.
Annual Development Plan is a 12-month action plan with each category of funder and your list of what you will accomplish.
Stewardship Plan – this is your annual stay in touch and keep you engaged plan for your donors and prospects. The new normal is 27 touches a year and it just makes sense to figure out what donor gets what touches so that you can stay on track.
Social media plan – social media is becoming more and more a key ingredient in your fundraising. For some nonprofits this is part of their stewardship plan and for others it is a separate plan.

We will also cover the concepts of segmentation – targeting your donors and how to ensure success if you have data . Other concepts we will cover include peer to peer fundraising and how to engage your board fundraising.  Learn about trends in fundraising and how things are changing due to demographics and technology.
