ACCT 200 | Introduction to Nonprofit Accounting

Being unfamiliar with nonprofit accounting procedures and concepts may be the one part of your job causing you anxiety. In reality, once you know the conditions and terminology, you will realize how simple and essential it is to your work and the health of your organization. This class is designed to make you more comfortable with nonprofit accounting. During this class, you will walk through real nonprofit examples and reports that will help you understand accounting terms and rules. This class is right for you if you are new to the nonprofit sector, nonprofit accounting, or your position as staff or board member.

March 19 Class: Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, this class will be offered online via Zoom. Registrants will be emailed the day before their class with detailed instructions and the Zoom meeting link. Please note the time for the Zoom classes will be provided in the email.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Define key nonprofit accounting terminology.
  • Explain the accounting rules governing revenue  recognition, allocation of expenses, and restricted net assets.
  • Summarize the key requirements under new FASB reporting rules for nonprofits.
