Board Bites are one-hour workshops covering nonprofit board governance issues, designed for board members and key staff who work consistently with the board of directors. Covering a different topic every month, sessions begin by focusing on board roles and responsibilities before taking a deeper dive into one or more related issues through a facilitated discussion.
In this session, we will cover the ins and outs of committees. All nonprofit boards form committees to accomplish their work. Some organizations have many standing committees, while others have just a few, but they are often part of the organization bylaws – meaning that they must, by law, be implemented as part of your organizational structure. Find out exactly what committees do, how committee management is evolving (fewer committees, more task forces), and how to craft committee job descriptions with annual priorities.
Bring your questions, comments, and ideas, and be ready to share and learn from each other. These sessions are free for GCN member organizations.
