Momentum:Westside Cohort

The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, in partnership with GCN, have selected 45 Westside Atlanta nonprofits to take part in Momentum:WestsideSelected nonprofits were invited to take part in one of the program’s two group tracks. 

The Core Group will work through an array of training seminars, personalized business coaching and consulting, and deep leadership training. In addition, annual financial support will be provided to aid in the execution of necessary practices and investments needed for becoming higher impact nonprofits. 

 

The Community Group will have access to hands-on training, networking, and year-long programs focused on management, leadership and governance training.

Vine City

The Vine City Civic Association's primary goal is to coordinate and facilitate the housing, economic, environmental, and commercial revitalization of the Vine City area.

 

Integrity Transformations Community Development Corporation

Founded in 1995 and incorporated in 2003, ITCDC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is committed to transforming the communities of the English Avenue and Vine City by building a strong and healthy neighborhoods through advocacy, leveraging of resources, community organizing and direct services that will stimulate holistic community development. Through empowerment mechanisms we promote positive change and self-sufficiency to enhance the quality of life for the benefit of those we serve.

 

Raising Expectations

The mission of Raising Expectations is to educate, engage and empower youth in challenging circumstances by providing them with opportunities to build strong academic skills, leadership skills and self-esteem. Raising Expectations sets high standards of excellence by raising the academic, social and civic expectations of each child, while exposing them to the world of opportunity beyond their neighborhoods and encouraging children to become critical thinkers.

 

Westside Atlanta Watershed Alliance

The mission of the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance is to improve the quality of life for the residents of West Atlanta by protecting, preserving, and restoring our community's natural resources.

A Hand Up Ministries

The mission of our organization to make an impact on the residents of Vine City and English Avenue by feeding the hungry, housing the homeless and bringing hope to the hopeless. 

Abel 2, Inc.

Meet holistic needs of Under-served populations through music and art while seeking to protect the environment - the foundation of music and art. Under-served includes people with disabilities, inmates (especially those with children) and people who live in rural non-urban communities.  Holistic includes providing safe/affordable housing, creating change agents, and providing job creation/financial literacy.

Actor's Express

Actor's Express is a theatre that challenges and reflects contemporary human experiences in an inclusive environment. We seek to jumpstart individual transformations through the shared adventure of our live performances, which range from daringly provocative to audaciously hilarious.

Antioch Urban Ministries

Antioch Urban Ministries, Incorporated (AUMI) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), charitable organization founded in 1990 as an advocacy agent which provides comprehensive substance abuse recovery services to persons who are homeless, low income, recently released from incarceration and/or are living with HIV/AIDS. In addition AUMI provides essential services to families throughout Metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding areas through our food and clothing bank, internet access, job search and other social support services

Assembly of Truth Ministries

Our mission is to increase reading comprehension, reading speed and vocabulary through our after school program and Super Saturday. These two programs work in concert with each other to help us achieve our goals. We employ creative and fun methods of teaching. We want to instill a joy of reading into every child who attends.

Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency

ACSS empowers homeless individuals to achieve economic self sufficiency and their ultimate potential to thrive in life.

Central Community Services

Central Community Services, Inc. (Central CSI) is a resource and service center that uplifts and empowers people in Atlanta’s Westside Communities to live abundantly. Central CSI was established in 2005 as an expansion of Central UMC Atlanta’s community outreach (including programs and services such as Youth Enrichment Program and Food Pantry). Central CSI focuses on education & enrichment programs; referral & support services; and civic engagement & community service initiatives to improve the quality of living in Atlanta’s Westside Communities!

Community Empowerment Development Corporation

To empower the Cascade Community by providing stability to our youth, adults and families through education and employment.

Create Your Dreams

Create Your Dreams (CYD) is a long-term, youth development program dedicated to nurturing the talents and dreams of children living in underserved areas of Atlanta. We provide the resources, opportunities, and relationships required for children living in poverty to reach their potential and create a brighter future.

Field of Dreams Academy

The Field of Dreams Academy is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, incorporated in the State of Georgia. Our primary mission is to EDUCATE, EXPOSE and ENDOW opportunities to underserved youth who have the talent, passion and skill to excel in non-traditional sports. These non-traditional sports are baseball, lacrosse, soccer, hockey and auto racing. Additionally, our focus is to EXPAND their knowledge in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), so these student-athletes can excel academically." Our goal is for each student-athlete who participates in the Field of Dreams Academy to have a positive impact on his community. They participate in various outreach programs that allow them to become a positive contributor to our society. The Field of Dreams Academy knows that we can make better communities, which lead to a better society, ultimately leading to a better world!

First Step Staffing, Inc.

First Step focuses on developing a sustainable source of income and health insurance for individuals transitioning from homelessness through two programs: Staffing, a transitional jobs program for individuals who can work, and Benefits, a program for individuals with severe disabilities that prevent them from maintaining employment. We collaborate closely with over twenty healthcare, housing, and service organizations. First Step serves over 600 people annually, generating $1.3 million in income for our clients—income that continues well beyond our engagement with them.

Flight Buddies Foundation

To Inspire, Educate, Expose, and Prepare our youth for the 21st century of Aviation. 

Foreverfamily

To inspire hope in children of incarcerated mothers and fathers, to help the children become successful adults, to strengthen their families and to share our considerable experience with communities worldwide to do the same.

Friends of Lillian Cooper Shephard Park

To craft viable means of sustaining and upgrading Lillian Cooper Shepherd Park status from a block park to a community park through strategic planning, data analysis, leadership, and organizational development, in support of life-long multigenerational functions.

Fulton County Court Appointed Special Advocates

The mission of Fulton County CASA is to recruit, train and supervise community volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children that are involved with the Juvenile Court System. CASA volunteers seek to find safe and permanent homes for young victims as soon as possible, simultaneously ensuring that each child's needs are met while in foster care. Our community volunteers provide individualized advocacy to children who otherwise get lost in an overburdened legal system. We are committed to representing the best interest of our child victims in Fulton County.

Hagar Civilization Missionary Training

Hagar CTM is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization and restoration of properties, neighborhoods, and the lives of the area's residents through community, housing, and economic development of the Westside neighborhoods it serves.

Historic Westside Cultural Arts Council

The purpose of Historic Westside Cultural Arts Council is to promote native and local arts and culture from within the Historic Westside neighborhoods of Atlanta, through mentoring, training, and nurturing both individuals and organizations who will sponsor artistic and cultural events and programs in the community. The mission for HOPE Through Divine Intervention, Inc. (HTDI) is to Help Other People Excel by providing homeless individuals and families with quality permanent supportive housing.

Lifecycle Building Center

The mission of the LBC is to make the lifecycle use of the built environment increasingly efficient and sustainable through the operation of a retail building material reuse center as a workable and self-sufficient alternative to material disposal, by using proceeds from material sales to fund grassroots community outreach programs that enhance resource efficiency in the built environment, and by empowering the community with the educational and experiential resources needed to effectively raise market demand for green building goods and services

The mission of Meals On Wheels Atlanta is to support senior independence through meals, shelter, education, and community.

Midtown Assistance Center

The Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) is a non-profit, interfaith organization whose mission is to provide emergency assistance to low income working Atlantans. MAC’s aim is to help prevent homelessness and hunger during periods of crisis

Southeastern Horticultural Society

The mission of SHS is to promote the knowledge, art and enjoyment of horticulture throughout the Southeastern United States. SHS teams up with locally based organizations to bring educational resources to develop the Wellness component in neighborhoods where people live. Walking Through the Vine, Inc. has been serving as a community advocate agency for over 18 years in Vine City /English Ave and other communities in the urban Atlanta area. We are in the community to serve and protect as well as transform the mind and soul of God’s people.  We aim to instill strong values and principles in our children. We collaborate with residents, businesses, religious organizations and educational institutions to improve the neighborhood quality of life with regards to public safety, human services, environmental management, green space, housing, economic development, recreation, preservation and education.
