Which classes are covered by the Subscription?
The Nonprofit University (NU) Subscription covers all core curriculum classes, including certificate series and many individual classes. View our Course Catalog for a complete list of included courses. Excluded courses are noted and include executive leadership programs (like Emerge), How to Start a Nonprofit, and programs offered through partners (like our offerings on QuickBooks).
How many seats does my organization get with the Subscription?
The NU Subscription – Unlimited includes 2 seats in each covered class. Two staff members could attend every included NU class and would not incur an additional charge unless a third registrant signed up for a specific class. All additional seat (third and beyond) will be charged at 50% off the member rate.
The NU Subscription – Select includes 20 seats over the course of the subscription term. Each registration in a class counts as 1 seat. For example, if you have a staff member interested in attending a 4-part certificate series, that would count for 4 of your 20 seats. The first 20 seats are included in the subscription. After that, registrations return to member price.

Regarding the Unlimited Subscription, must the 2 seats per class be limited to the same 2 people?
No, you are welcome to mix and match your staff to the training that best suits them. There is no limit to how many different people can attend classes or how many classes 1 person can attend. The only limit is that no more than 2 learners can be registered for a class (without incurring additional charge).
Who is covered by my organization’s Subscription?
Everyone covered by your organization’s GCN Membership will be covered by the NU Subscription. This includes staff, board members, and volunteers associated with your organization.
How long does the NU Subscription last?
The NU Subscription term is 12 months, with the option to renew. If your organization prefers to prorate the Subscription so that the term lines up with your GCN Membership term, please contact [email protected] and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Does my organization need to be a GCN Member to purchase the NU Subscription?
Yes, the NU Subscription is only available to GCN Members. Nonmembers will need to sign up for an active GCN Membership in order to add on the NU Subscription.
What is the difference between GCN Membership and the NU Subscription?
GCN Membership grants your organization access to a variety of GCN benefits, including exclusive events, members-only board trainings, member newsletters, and discounts on job postings and class registrations. The NU Subscription is a paid membership add-on that covers the cost of Nonprofit University classes based on the terms of the selected subscription (either Unlimited or Select).
Does the NU Subscription include the cost of my GCN Membership?
No. The cost for the NU Subscription is separate from your GCN Membership fee. Membership rates are based on your organization’s annual expenses and will vary by budget size. (See the Membership page for a complete chart of member rates.) The NU Subscription is a flat-rate add-on option, with two Subscription options: $2,500 for the Unlimited Subscription or $1,500 for the Select Subscription.
What happens if my GCN Membership lapses during my NU Subscription term?
Your GCN Membership must remain active in order to utilize the NU Subscription. If your membership lapses during your subscription term, you will have the opportunity to renew your GCN Membership. If membership is not renewed, NU Subscription benefits will be terminated.
