GAgives on #GivingTuesday 2021 Shares Ways for Nonprofits and Businesses to Join in Giving and to Showcase #GAgenerosity

ATLANTA – July 27, 2021. The giving season may be four months away, but preparations are already underway for the biggest day of giving in our state each year, GAgives on GivingTuesday. The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN), official GivingTuesday organizer for Georgia, is bringing together nonprofit, philanthropic, and for-profit partners to plan a showcase of #GAgenerosity that engages millions of people. This year’s GAgives on GivingTuesday takes place on Nov. 30, 2021, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

In spite of the pandemic, 2020’s GAgives set record numbers for giving: $24,883,590 was raised overall thanks to 260,546 individual donations, benefitting thousands of nonprofits throughout the state. In dollars, Georgians’ generosity surpassed 2019’s record-breaking amount by 84%; in the number of individual donations, it topped 2019 by over 94%.

At this point in the runup to GAgives on GivingTuesday, nonprofits are being encouraged to register now on the GAgives.org fundraising platform in order to take full advantage of complimentary resources and training provided by GCN, including of-the-moment preparation tips emailed to their inbox, online toolkits, interactive webinars, lessons from GAgives success stories, and more. The first (free) online training will take place Aug. 25 to help nonprofits begin planning in earnest and avoid a last-minute crunch as the holiday season begins. To get the latest details, organizations are encouraged to sign up for GAgives emails here.

Early registrants can also share their stories of impact for the chance to be included in GAgives PSAs, outreach campaigns, and engagement opportunities for GAgives on GivingTuesday. Organizations registered on GAgives.org will also be able to compete for generous prizes from official GAgives sponsors.

In addition, new toolkit components this year will include customizable social media outreach and engagement templates, webinars on Person-to-Person (P2P) fundraising campaigns for training board members and volunteers, and more.

“The past year has been one of extreme challenges. When there are needs in the community, we turn to our nonprofits to help” said GCN President & CEO Karen Beavor. “We’ve seen how generous Georgians can be even during the hardest of times. To make even more success stories with this year’s GAgives on GivingTuesday, we’re providing customizable donor engagement templates and special trainings to help nonprofits increase fundraising efforts and outreach abilities.”

In 2020, GAgives was fortunate to have six different sponsors provide matching funds and incentive prizes through GAgives.org, resulting in an additional $270,000 for nonprofits that took part in one (or more) of 31 competitive opportunities designed to get donors giving – like the “power hours” in which the three nonprofits with the most individual donations win extra donations, showing donors they can make a big difference with any sized donation. New and

returning sponsors are welcome to join in this special day of giving, with custom giving and sponsorship opportunities available. For more details, visit our partner page.

Launched in 2012, GAgives has served as the state’s biggest giving movement for nine years in a row, galvanizing $70 million in donations with over 556,000 individual gifts. Designed, deployed, and managed by GCN for the direct benefit of our state’s nonprofits, the GAgives on GivingTuesday campaign is amplified by corporate and foundation sponsors, media partners, and participating organizations, whose efforts and ingenuity always make an outsized impact.

GCN is honored to lead the state’s biggest giving movement, and proud to serve as the official state lead for GivingTuesday, a generosity campaign reaching all 50 states and more than 150 countries. Each year, the GAgives campaign adds new resources to help nonprofits understand emerging challenges and turn them into opportunities, with new webinars and customizable campaigns for nonprofits.
