GCN is a proponent of results-based strategic planning. We work regularly with nonprofit leaders to facilitate effective processes that create a clear vision, goals, strategies, and actions that are both realistic and motivating. We also guide nonprofits in creating processes for ongoing revision and effective execution.  Here are a few of our key steps in nonprofit strategic planning:

• Establish the process.
• Complete an environmental scan.
• Review the current mission and revise as needed.
• Create a 3-5 year practical vision.
• Examine underlying contradictions and supporting strengths.
• Establish strategic direction, including 3-5 year measurable goals and strategies.
• Develop implementation plan.
• Monitor the strategic plan.
