Consulting Services | Board Development and Governance
As part of the board development process, our consultants work closely with board leaders and their executive directors to assist in evaluating the current board, to plan participation and motivate commitment of board members, and to ultimately develop and advance a board development process. Coaching and input from the consultant are provided to board leaders and as appropriate to the executive director throughout the process. Our key steps include:
- Evaluate the board's role, structure and function vs. best practices.
- Determine the focus of the board as it relates to the organization’s goals and strategies and based on a board evaluation.
- Revise, establish or enhance the board organization structure, roles and responsibilities.
- Provide education, training or support to the board directly or through recommended resources.
- Support working relationships within the board and with the executive director.
- Provide direct support in certain areas such as kicking off committees, revising by-laws, or developing and supporting successful board recruitment.
