Amid pomp and circumstance at Philips Arena this afternoon at 2:00 p.m., Georgia's eighty-first Governor, the Honorable Sonny Perdue, and Georgia's eleventh Lt. Governor, the Honorable Casey Cagle, were sworn into office along with Georgia's other constitutional officers.

Earlier in the day, the House of Representatives re-elected Rep. Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) as its Speaker.  Speaker Richardson in his remarks cited that since his election to Speaker two years ago, he had seen "the best of times and the worst of times," reciting references to Charles Dickens', A Tale of Two Cities.

Speaker Richardson also thanked those who had supported him including his wife who was present in the Chambers.  Rep. Mark Burkhalter (R-Duluth) was also re-elected to his job as Speaker Pro Tempore.
