Policy Update
Georgia Tax Reform Training Event (Setp. 6, 2006)
9/06/2006
GA CURB, The Georgia Coalition for a Responsible Budget, is hosting a Georgia tax reform training event: Wednesday, September 6, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Families First, 1105 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia 30357.
The Georgia Budget and Policy Institute will teach us what we need to know to influence the direction of current tax reform initiatives in our state. Our future ability to secure funding for health, human services, infrastructure, and the environment to offer a high quality of life for all Georgians is at stake.
Our state needs a tax structure that is updated to reflect the present economy, fair, stable, and able to produce enough revenue for growing needs. GBPI has authored a new study showing ways to achieve these objectives. Read (PDF): Doing Better: Fair and Adequate Tax Reform in Georgia.Or, go to www.gbpi.org.
Please come to the training on September 6th to hear GBPI's Alan Essig and Sarah Beth Coffey present their findings and answer our questions so we will be prepared to engage in this important advocacy during coming months.
