New Course and Learning Management System

  • GCN plans to offer an improved learning management system for NU students and instructors. The system will facilitate access to on-line course descriptions and registration, job role competency assessments, and provide support for NU courses and educational solutions.

Competency Assessments

  • On-line, interactive assessment tools linked will be available to identify job strengths and areas needing improvement.  A customized course list will be created for you based on this information for you to follow.

Professional Development Plans

  • NU is developing education and training courses, selected certificate programs, seminars, and other academic resources designed to address an array of job-role related competencies.  Individuals, team leaders, even organizations can use data to strategically plan for course selection on an individual level

HR Toolkits

  • NU is developing HR Toolkits to support each key nonprofit management area.  Kits will contain resources that both individuals and organizations will find useful as they develop talent and/or support careers in the nonprofit sector.  Kits will contain such things as:
    • Typical career ladders/job roles in that management area
    • Sample job descriptions associated with a career ladder for that area
    • Interviewing guides
    • Salary charts
    • Performance evaluation templates, including 360 evaluations

Solution Sets

  • NU is developing workforce solution sets to support course work in each nonprofit management area.  These will include such resources as:
    • “How to Guides”
    • Templates associated with common business practices, typical internal nonprofit controls/reports, MOU formats, etc
    • Sample accounting and other program planning and/or monitoring tools
    • Supplemental readings, key bibliographic references, key professional associations, etc.

Watch for these enhancements:

  • Workforce/Succession Planning Tools
  • Team Building Tools
  • Career Mapping and Assesments
