Unemployment Services Trust (UST)UST is an alternative to the state unemployment system. UST is a grantor trust created by and for nonprofit organizations. Rather than subsidizing the unemployment claims of for-profit companies, UST members pool their resources to pay only the claims incurred by their members. Elected governing trustees are CEOs and CFOs of member organizations. When you join UST as a reimbursable employer, you may reduce your tax rate by 50 percent in the first year, and continue with reduced tax payments over time.Eligible organizations opt out of their state's unemployment tax system. They make quarterly contributions directly to the Trust. The Trust handles claims payments for the organization.
