Where are the best sites to post jobs? Where are the best sites to look for nonprofit jobs? Last week Blue Avocado and the Tom Battin Awards announced Opportunity Knocks as the Best Nonprofit Site.
According to Blue Avocado, job sites serve two audiences: job seekers and employers. Job seekers should be able look for potential nonprofit positions as well as upload their résumés so employers can find them. In addition, the site should offer tools to create and track cover letters, flag job postings, set up alerts for new listings, and track applications. For nonprofit employers, these job sites should allow them to post jobs, search posted résumés to find candidates.
They also focused on sites that are either exclusively for nonprofit jobs or have a substantial number of nonprofit jobs listed; sites that update listings regularly; site that include special, helpful features for either employers or job-seekers; and sites that are either national or localized enough to be helpful.
Sites giving background on the hiring organizations and providing interactive support and help for their visitors was also essential. In addition, they liked sites that provide relevant content, links to significant resources, how-to guides, and tools to help applicants find the right job.
Once they reviewed Opportunity Knocks, they had to look no further as this site provides all of the criteria listed above.
