Momentum Launches in Macon-Bibb County to Support Nonprofits in Building Early Childhood Success
ATLANTA (August 20, 2015)—The Peyton Anderson Foundation, in partnership with GCN, is excited to announce the launch of Momentum for Early Childhood Success, an innovative initiative bringing together 12 nonprofit organizations and four agencies serving the Macon-Bibb County region to strengthen their leadership, infrastructure, collaboration, and alignment to better support children from birth to age 5 and their families.
“The Trustees of the Peyton Anderson Foundation believe that assuring all children, including at-risk children, are ready to learn when they enter kindergarten is a critical component of effectively educating our youngest residents,” said Karen Lambert, President of The Peyton Anderson Foundation. “In order to achieve this goal, the Foundation is choosing to devote additional resources to address this compelling issue.

“Thanks to the leadership of The Peyton Anderson Foundation,” said GCN Executive Vice President Chris Allers, “we’re excited to apply the Momentum process to strengthen the collective impact of these 16 organizations and create a well-developed system of care that will improve early childhood development and education success in Middle Georgia.”
Momentum will deliver a rigorous, team-based strategy and leadership development experience focused on helping these organizations to create high-impact strategy, make data-driven decisions, and implement enduring systems to manage and measure results; the Macon-Bibb County initiative includes customized organizational development plans and a 12-month performance management training program, among other capacity-building benefits.
The first and largest project of its kind in Georgia, Momentum was created by GCN to transform nonprofit performance, while catalyzing communities of peer leaders to tackle complex problems together. Pioneered on the southern coast in 2012, GCN has since brought the Momentum process to six more communities around the state, engaging 202 nonprofits and 13 funding partners.
