June Topics for High Performance
- Human Resources
Proudly Sponsored by: Opportunity Knocks
In the realm of Human Resources there are two primary tracks, Development and Management.
Human Resource Development (HRD) consists of the foundation employees use to develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities; examples are: training, career and performance development, mentoring and succession planning. The focus of HRD is to develop the most capable workforce, where-in the nonprofit can achieve its mission and vision, and the employees can accomplish their professional goals.
Human Resource Management (HRM) consists of the internal organizational processes that address the recruitment, management, and direction for employed professionals; examples are: compensation, safety, performance management, and employee motivation. HRM serves as a strategic and inclusive method of managing nonprofit professionals and the workplace culture/environment.
This month’s Topic for High Performance focuses on providing tools that will ensure your HUMAN RESOURCE systems are developed and managed well, allowing your nonprofit to reach its maximum potential and efficiency.
“Human capital is a core asset, just like financial and physical assets. As such, it must be managed similarly to other assets. This requires thinking strategically about how to invest in human capital, and figuring out how to optimize and measure its return.” - Allan Schweyer
