What are the essential skills that high performing nonprofit professionals need, and how proficient are you in these core competencies? To invest wisely in education and training, you need to be able to assess needs, identify resources, measure results, and track progress.
Introducing Nonprofit e-Mentor, our web-based skills assessment.
This online, competency-based assessment provides a measuring tool to identify gaps in skills and knowledge at both an individual and organizational level. These competencies were identified after years of research, focus groups, and interviews with recognized leaders of the nonprofit industry to identify what competencies are needed – by position – for those who work in nonprofits to succeed.
E-Mentor then guides you to the necessary resources to help bridge those gaps – this can include courses, books, articles, websites, and practical tools.
How e-Mentor Works
Nonprofit e-Mentor can assess the skills you need for your current position or identify skills you need for your next position. For example, suppose you are interested in becoming a Director of Development & Fundraising. There is, of course, specific knowledge, abilities, and skills needed for such a position. Through Nonprofit E-Mentor, you can identify where your gaps are and tailor your educational efforts to build competency in areas of weakness.
The assessment allows you to:
- Review role profiles and select your current or preferred nonprofit job role
- Self-assess proficiency levels in competencies/skills for the job role you selected
- Identify skill gaps in job role performance areas needing improvement
- For performance gaps, identify relevant learning resources and select those that you feel will most improve job performance in your prioritized gap areas
- Tailor an educational development plan to guide your performance improvement
