Leadership drives nonprofits. It's the tough work that you do, day in and day out, that advances your missions and empowers our sector. As a nonprofit leader, you face increasing demands and navigate complex relationships and requirements every day. The demands are unprecedented, so the need for peer networks, collaboration, insight and resources is more critical than ever.

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits has been listening, and we've teamed up with sector leaders to step up support through a fresh and focused system of leadership activation, support and development – The Georgia Leadership Initiative.

This Initiative will be much more than a class, a network, or a resource. We are dedicated to building an integrated matrix of support and information that will serve as a catalyst for empowering Georgia leaders.

Through this Initiative, we will expand platforms for exchange, coaching, and learning; deliver ongoing advocacy leadership; craft research crafted to spur insight; and develop a growing set of tools and resources.

We are dedicated to elevating support for nonprofit sector leaders -- working to help you sharpen your capacity to lead, stimulating critical conversations, facilitating connections, and championing your interests.

The Initiative encompasses:

Knowledge Catalyst
Nonprofit CEO Peerspectives, our new peer-based executive leadership program, provides a forum to build supportive peer relationships, benefit from executive coaching, and connect with funders and influential community leaders. Our continuing High Potential Diverse Leaders program provides a unique annual training opportunity for emerging sector leaders.

Impactful Events
In partnership with sector and business leaders, we present community events across the state, bringing together nonprofit leaders for panel discussions and expert presentations on core issues, stimulating discussion and building community. View our calendar of upcoming events.

Support Network of Peers
In partnership with nonprofit sector, government, and business leaders, we will bring together senior executives and board members, facilitating knowledge sharing, encouraging collaboration and expanding peer networks with the goal of further impact and advancement across the state.  In addition, we will convene sector leaders in a collaborative format to enhance our individual experiences and share best practices through broad events and exclusive settings.

Insight-Enabling Research
We continue a commitment to developing original, in-depth research that illuminates sector trends, challenges and opportunities. Our latest research, the Georgia Nonprofit Governance Index, provides an "inside view" of board and executive leadership practices. Two upcoming reports focus on high-performance and employee engagement. We also collaborate in key third-party sector research, such as the Compass Point Daring to Lead study.

Advocacy and Legislative Representation
Leaders can count on our ongoing advocacy leadership in standing up for our sector's interests on both a state and federal level, and in the face of mounting legislative challenges. Recent efforts have focused on preserving critical nonprofit tax exemptions by harnessing the collective voice of GCN members to speak up to Georgia legislators.

Effective Resources to Lead
We make available to the nonprofit community an extensive collection of open resources. A growing knowledgebase features podcasts from leaders in the funder and donor communities, videos, webinars, articles and reports.
