Karen F. Beavor | President and CEO

As President and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits since 1998, Karen has led GCN’s growth into a leading state association empowering nonprofits through education, advocacy, research, consulting and business support services.

Karen has served as a board member or advisory board member of a variety of civic and nonprofit organizations including the Unemployment Services Trust; National Nonprofit Risk Management Center; and The Foundation Center–Atlanta. Karen has received the Martin Luther King Leadership award and the Harvard Business School Club of Atlanta’s Community Leader Award. She is a member of the 2000 class of Leadership Atlanta and 2003 Coca-Cola Diversity Leadership Academy, and a graduate of Agnes Scott College.


Patty Tucker | Chair, Board of Directors

Patty Tucker became chair of the GCN Board of Directors in 2016. She has spent her career as a corporate communications strategist and counselor helping companies ensure that their reputation and character adds business value. Most recently, Patty was EVP and Americas Region Operations & Strategy Director with Edelman’s Global Corporate Practice where she stewarded 22 practices across the Americas, sharing innovation and talent to influence consistency of approach and measurable client results. 


Prior to joining Edelman in 2002, Patty was EVP of The Headline Group, an Atlanta-based PR shop where she founded its Corporate and B-to-B practice and helped grow the firm tenfold. She is a member of the College of Charleston Department of Communication Advisory Council, an active graduate of Leadership Atlanta and a Steering Group member of TEDx/Atlanta. Her longest “client relationship” is with her husband, Guy, which has grown with strategic brand extensions … college athletes, Evan and Allegra.
