Introducing New Center Partner: Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta
The Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBP-Atl) provides pro-bono legal assistance to nonprofit organizations. PBP works with transactional lawyers at corporations and law firms to provide this service to nonprofits serving the public interest in metro Atlanta. PBP invites inquiries from community-based nonprofits whose primary purpose is to operate ongoing programs or activities that benefit low-income communities or serve the public interest. Eligible organizations will be matched with volunteer attorneys from leading Atlanta corporations and law firms who will provide a variety of pro-bono legal services. Scholarships for Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School
The Harvard Business School Club of Atlanta will award four or more scholarships to attend one-week executive education programs in the Social Enterprise Initiative at Harvard Business School in summer 2006. The courses are “Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management” (SPNM) and “Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations” (PMNO) and will be held in Boston at HBS. Winners will be selected by February 2006. Application and information are online. Deadline to apply is Dec. 1.


H&R Block Nonprofit Fund-raiser Program
To participate, simply alert your constituents that H&R Block can help them save money and help your organization raise money—at the same time. For every new client you refer to H&R Block, your organization will receive $20, and your member receives $10. You will then receive a packet of referral forms to hand out to all of your members. They bring the form to H&R Block when they have their taxes done and you both get an award. The program runs January 1 through April 15. A few weeks after April 15, your group will receive one check with its total reward amount. There is no limit to the referrals you can receive

Fulton County Arts Council Seeks FY 2007 Panelists
The Fulton County Arts Council (FCAC) is preparing for its '06-'07 contract cycle. We seek professionals who represent a cross-section of relevant experience in the arts and reflect the diversity of Fulton County to serve on the application peer review panels. Over 50 volunteer panelists will evaluate applications, make funding recommendations, provide guidance to staff in working with given applications, and assist FCAC with policy and program development. Housing Bill to Include Nonprofit Gag Provision
A government-sponsored enterprise bill that would establish a new affordable housing fund, but limit nonprofits' rights to engage in, or affiliate with organizations that engage in, nonpartisan voter registration or lobbying activities, is racing ahead to a floor vote in the House. More >>
