Funding Social Justice Session (Nov. 30, Atlanta)
The Foundation Center-Atlanta and the Georgia Center for Nonprofits present this special program.
The editor of the Foundation Center’s benchmark study on Social Justice Grantmaking will report on the findings and then participate in a dialogue with a key local funder and a grant recipient. They will discuss various aspects of funding and fund raising for social justice issues. 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Foundation Center. No cost. Atlanta Nonprofit Professionals November Social (Nov. 17, Decatur)

Annual Georgia Women's Assembly (Nov. 18, Atlanta)
The Women's Policy Group hosts the 15th annual Georgia Women's Assembly at the Capitol Education Center, 180 Central Ave., downtown Atlanta. The half-day assembly will focus on legislative issues that are expected to come before the General Assembly in January 2006 that affect women and girls. Scholarships Available for AFP’s International Conference on Fund Raising
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) hosts this conference in Atlanta, April 2--5, 2006.

CyberAlert Announces Available Public Relations Grants

CyberAlert just announced the availability of public relations grants for nonprofits. Ranging in value from $2,400 to $4,800, each grant consists of one full year of free press clipping/media monitoring service from CyberAlert. Application deadline is Dec. 31. Available online is a simple and secure grant application.


Introducing New Center Partner: Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta
The Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBP-Atl) provides pro-bono legal assistance to nonprofit organizations. PBP works with transactional lawyers at corporations and law firms to provide this service to nonprofits serving the public interest in metro Atlanta. PBP invites inquiries from community-based nonprofits whose primary purpose is to operate ongoing programs or activities that benefit low-income communities or serve the public interest. Eligible organizations will be matched with volunteer attorneys from leading Atlanta corporations and law firms who will provide a variety of pro-bono legal services. Scholarships for Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School
The Harvard Business School Club of Atlanta will award four or more scholarships to attend one-week executive education programs in the Social Enterprise Initiative at Harvard Business School in summer 2006. The courses are “Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management” (SPNM) and “Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations” (PMNO) and will be held in Boston at HBS. Winners will be selected by February 2006. Application and information are online. Deadline to apply is Dec. 1.

Volvo for Life Awards Seeks Nominations

Do you know a hero? If so, nominate your hero for the Volvo for Life Awards, the nation’s largest annual search for everyday heroes, with more than $1 million in financial contributions. Volvo for Life Awards honors individuals making outstanding contributions in the area of safety, environment or quality of life. Volvo will select top finalists in three categories: safety, quality of life and environment. Celebrity judges will name one winner for each of the three categories; they each will receive $50,000 to be donated to the charities of their choice.
