Social Entrepreneur Award Program Seeks Applicants
Brought to you by Hands On Atlanta, this program
seeks to nurture citizen leadership to build sustainable community
projects. A social entrepreneur is someone who creates unique programming
that affects economic, political and social imbalances. Projects in
the program will involve at least one of these categories: children,
families, adults, seniors, animals, technology, and environment. Participants
meet once a month for workshops to build social entrepreneurship skills--March
26 to Dec. 16, 2006--and will submit a business plan for review. Four
plans will be chosen to receive a seed grant of either $4,000 or $1,000.

Scholarships Available for AFP’s International Conference on
Fund Raising
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) hosts this
conference in Atlanta, April 2--5, 2006.

Available Public Relations Grants
CyberAlert just announced the availability of public relations grants
for nonprofits. Ranging in value from $2,400 to $4,800, each grant
consists of one full year of free press clipping/media monitoring
service from CyberAlert. Available

Exhibitor Opportunity at University of Georgia Nonprofit
Career Fair (Feb. 15, Athens)
Want to recruit qualified individuals from a top-20 university? This
career fair usually draws between 600--800 students and alumni and
approximately 100 regional nonprofits from across the Southeast. This
career fair will give you a chance to showcase your organization and
talk with hundreds of participants about specific intern and career
opportunities. Registration is $75 and covers marketing, parking,
and lunch for two individuals. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Get

IRS Adjusts
Mileage Rate to 44.5 Cents for 2006
The Internal Revenue Service set the deductible rate that workers
can claim next year for using personal cars on business at 44.5 cents
a mile. Currently the rate is 14 cents a mile for individuals deducting
travel costs related to charitable service. A special rate, 32 cents
a mile, is for deductions related to Hurricane Katrina charitable
service. Organizations can reimburse volunteers working on Hurricane
Katrina charity efforts at the business rate of 44.5 cents.
New Center
Partner: Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta
The Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBP-Atl) provides pro-bono
legal assistance to nonprofit organizations. PBP invites inquiries
from community-based nonprofits whose primary purpose is to operate
ongoing programs or activities that benefit low-income communities
or serve the public interest. Eligible organizations will be matched
with volunteer attorneys from leading Atlanta corporations and law
firms who will provide a variety of pro-bono legal services. Visit

procedures.

Georgia Office Space for Lease
The Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia has office space (1350
sq. ft.) available to lease to another nonprofit for $600/month. Location
is in Warner Robbins, Ga. Renter is responsible for all utilities.
Renter must provide proof of 501(c) (3) status and valid insurance.
