New Volunteer Management Certificate Program
Volunteer Administrators, no matter their title, have a more complicated role these days and that trend will only continue. Not only do you have to be a person with excellent people skills, they also must understand and use data and technology to their advantage. The course is three hours per week for five weeks which fits into most everyone's schedule. The first in the series starts June 5th with Introduction to Volunteer Administration-Essentials of Volunteer Management. This is a great partnership with Dr. Barry Boyd at Texas A&M and the GCN Volunteer Management team lead, Marty Atherton.

GCN is pleased to be announcing another leadership development program: "CDO Central." Designed exclusively for development leaders of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in metropolitan Atlanta, CDO Central features programs, tools and resources that empower participants to improve themselves, their organizations and their communities. CDO Central is not designed to teach fundraising skills; rather it focuses on the leadership imperatives critical to success in an executive role. Executive level learning paired with lively peer networking makes CDO Central the best resource for development professionals to take their career to the next level. 100 Black Men of Dekalb

100 Black Men

The 100 Black Men of DeKalb County, Inc., is proud to celebrate its 15th year anniversary. In 1991, the vision of the founding president, the late Dr. William C. Brown, was to expand the Leadership Academy program to reach more students and include more schools. The DeKalb's 104 members have carried on the dream of Dr. Brown to have more involvement from students, schools and the entire community.

In February 2006, students from all DeKalb County schools convened in one location as partners of the 100 Black Men to host the first annual Youth Leadership Development Summit. With more than 300 middle and high school young men in attendance, the Superintendent of DeKalb Schools, Dr. Crawford Lewis, declared to the students “a charge to lead.” Prominent leaders in DeKalb County joined Dr. Lewis and promoted the importance of leadership skills, health, wellness, substance abuse, crime prevention and entrepreneurial skills.
