NU is pleased to announce the re-scheduling of a new certificate series: Essentials of Nonprofit Board Governance.  NU designed the series to address many areas most frequently reported as presenting challenges for those working with boards in the nonprofit sector.  

The 5-course series comprises affordable, accessible half-day sessions that now begin July 30th and conclude September 17, 2008.  (those registering for the full series derive the most benefits, but you may also register for individual courses within the series).

August 27-Good vs. Exceptional Boards

*implementing tools/methods designed to move boards from good to exceptional

September 4-Evaluating and Refreshing Your Board
*approaches to determining if your board needs refreshing or re-energizing
*planning a specific assessment and/or evaluation of a board's work and outcomes
*assessment and evaluation tools and processes and how to implement them
*working with boards to institutionalize various key aspects of these processes

September 17-Effective Board Management: Role of the Board Chair
*current practices that reflect good governance and lead to optimal board outcomes
*supporting and nurturing the board chair's leadership
*supporting board chair's work to develop/sustain partnerships with organizational leadership and other board members
*current tools that enhance effective board management
