Sarah Todd - Regional Manager, Coastal Georgia

What is your role at the Center?

I manage GCN’s operations and outreach in the coastal Georgia region.

What is your background before coming to the Center?

Over fifteen years in nonprofit management and management of state, regional national training programs for nonprofits and for-profits.

What do you see as the Center’s greatest accomplishment to Georgia’s nonprofit community?

GCN has the interests of nonprofits at heart, and has created a “one-stop shop” where nonprofits can address their needs, ranging from training to consulting to insurance and much more.  For busy nonprofit staff, this is a tremendous resource and time saver. Further, we are the advocacy voice for Georgia nonprofits, through education on policy issues impacting nonprofits and our research on the nonprofit sector in Georgia.

What do you think is the most pressing issue currently facing nonprofits in Georgia?

The changing face of the nonprofit sector’s financial landscape.
To be sustainable in today’s economic environment, nonprofits need to have an entrepreneurial mindset. This means being nimble, able to make quick decisions in response to changing conditions, able to assess and respond to risks, and the willingness to collaborate with other nonprofits,  leveraging their strengths to impact community. They must be creative in generating sustainable funding, and for many nonprofits, that means taking on for-profit ventures to support nonprofit mission.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I’m a singer at heart, and love to perform blues, American standards, and pop.

What do enjoy most about your job at the Center?

The opportunity to have a genuine impact on nonprofits’ ability to meet their missions and build their capacity.
