Lynne Norton - Marketing Manager, Opportunity Knocks

1.  Tell us a little about your background before coming to the Center.

I have worked for nearly two decades in media and marketing as a sales executive in technology publishing.


2.  What are your roles and responsibilities at the Center?

I serve as marketing manager for Opportunity Knocks, the Center’s national nonprofit job site.


3. How can Opportunity Knocks directly benefit nonprofit organizations and individuals?

For Nonprofit professionals, www.OpportunityKnocks.org is the premier destination to find nonprofit jobs and access valuable resources for developing successful careers in the nonprofit community. For Employers, www.OpportunityKnocks.org is the best way to find qualified candidates and receive valuable information that nonprofit organizations need when building successful recruitment, retention and human resource strategies.


4. What do you see as the most pressing issue facing nonprofits today?  How can the Center help nonprofits deal with this issue? 

Relating to workforce issues, although the nonprofit sector has reasonable turnover in comparison to the US labor market as a whole, recruitment and retention issues are leading concerns for the sector and require considerable human and other resources to address.  The Center helps nonprofits by providing these resourced to help in retaining and developing their staff through tailored services and programs like those offered through Nonprofit University and Opportunity Knocks.  


5. What do you find the most fulfilling about your job? 

Applying my skills and experience towards helping nonprofits achieve their missions and the privilege of working with the wonderful people in our community dedicated to making this world a better place.


6. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

My husband, two daughters and I are the owners and caretakers of four miniature urban dwelling goats.
