Conference Addresses Nonprofit Technology Needs

Dot Org: The Southeastern Nonprofit Technology Conference set for November 17

Atlanta, GA - 11/02/2004 -

On November 17, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits will hold its third annual Dot Org: The Southeastern Nonprofit Technology Conference at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Ga. Programs, including workshops and panel discussions, will address how nonprofits across the region can acquire and use technologies to improve their everyday work.

"Technology affects every aspect of a nonprofit's day-to-day management—from delivering programs and communicating with constituents, to raising funds and managing data. Ultimately it affects an organization's ability to meet its mission," says Karen Beavor, president and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. "Over and over, we hear from nonprofits that they need better technology, along with the skills to manage it. Dot Org is a key way we help these organizations keep abreast of technology so that they stay efficient and effective."

The event will also feature a panel of funders, including representatives from the BellSouth, The Beaumont Foundation of America, IBM, Verizon Wireless and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, who will discuss ways nonprofits can secure funding for their technology needs.

Dot Org is presented in partnership with the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Associations, the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama, and the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations. BellSouth is the presenting sponsor, and Delta Air Lines, IBM, and Verizon Wireless are platinum sponsors.
